WHAT IS FASHION taken from Wikipedia encyclopedia.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page Modern fashion design is roughly divided into two categories, haute couture, and ready-to-wear. A designer's haute-couture collection is meant exclusively for private customers and is custom sized, cut and sewn. To qualify as an official "haute couture" house, a designer or company must belong to the Syndical Chamber for Haute Couture, a Paris-based body of designers governed by the French Department of Industry that includes American, Italian, Japanese, and other designers as well. An haute couture house must show collections twice yearly with at least 35 separate outfits in each show. It is often shown on the catwalk and in private salons. Ready-to-wear collections are not custom made. They are standard sized which makes them more suitable for larger productions. Ready-to-wear collections can also be divided into designers/createur collections and Confection collections. Designer/createur collections have a high quality, a superb finish and a unique cut and design. These collections are the most trendsetting compared to Haute Couture and Confection. Designer/createurs ready to wear collections contain often concept items that represent a certain philosophy or theory. These items are not so much created for sales but just to make a statement. The designer's ready-to-wear collection is also presented on the international catwalks by people who do fashion modeling. Confection collections are the ones we see most commonly in our shops. These collections are designed by stylists. The brands that produce these collections aim only for a mass public and are in general not searching for new grammar for the language or a new point of view on/of fashion. A stylist inspires his/her designs on existing things, trends and designers collections. A designer starts from scratch; he/she develops a unique concept and translates this into garment collections, other lifestyle related products or a statement in various other types of media. Some designers approach their work just as a fine arts painter or sculptor. Inspiration for fashion designers comes from a wide range of things and cannot be pinpointed exactly. Q~ How can one stay warm and fashioable?
A~Keeping warm is essential for any time of the year but this year has been extraordinary it has been cold and lots of snow.
To stay trendy try putting a bright colored warm scarf with matching gloves and over the top of boot socks.
To look professional try a matching scarf and gloves and perhaps head scarf all in the same color hue.
in the office I suggest cuddle duds and perhaps spanx they make you shape up as well as keep you warm
when wearing address in the workplace try colored hose or tights with matching shoe to continue a long legged look try not to wear the ankle strap on the foot it may cut you off.
Wool trousers an slacks neatly pressed do a great job of keeping warm pair them with a warm neatly looking sweater of contrasting color and matching boots
Payless store have what I call fun stuff you can find ankle boots of various colors to make you feel trendy and not pay to much...

Try a belt on top of your jeans insted of in the loops
Wide belts do slim the waste but alwasy remember what you wear and draw attention to will be your lasting impression ....
PINS
I love a good pin, and bling in the pin is good too.. Wear you larger pins on outer Coats.
Some Broches can be worn at the waiste and make a good statment wear them to close a sash or a scarf used as a belt.
Nice pieces like vintage ones look good on a V of a V neck where cleavage is shown.
Jackie Kennedy wore a pin in her hair as a tiarra one time she looked stunning ..this is a good idea when going to a black tie event.
Smaller ones on lapels.. Stated pins for an occasion are important but wear them as they were intended ..
A retirement pin is not a tie tack..nor is a honorary pin so do NOT do that ..( It cheapens the rreason you got it)
Wear such items as they were intended on the lapel over the heart because award pins are given for service and service is from the heart.
Holiday pins are just for holidays wear them and have fun..
Now about political statements ...i would suggest you wear a Patriotic pin when you are at a patriotic function, and some times it works in a public area such as shopping etc.. but do not wear offencive jewelry when you know you will offend someone .. be sensitive to others and they will be to you.. But Religious Jewelry must be respected at all times allow it to be worn and be thankful someone has faith!
Subject pins like the ribbons are wonderful items to wear ..like Breast Cancer Awareness (PINK) pins and Aids pins ( RED) are great! Remember the months these events take place wear the pin proudly if you are supporting a cause ...
Many people like to wear pins because of color remember a clue here ...some ribbons pins ( most) mean somehing if you do no agree with the meaning dont wear it,.... know the information first...
A historical note the "Ribbon" pin started when the United states had Hostageds taken overseas it was Yellow then ...Aid Awarness came in with Red et.. But all have a meaning..

Get a busy person to help it is a clue they know what they are doing. No. 3: Dress yourself and your home when hosting a gathering,

Thanksgiving dressing..
If you decide to Theme dress I would suggest you not buy the cutsie outfits with pumpkins and leaves on them.
The are way to pricey and often after the first washing they never look the same.
To advert from that,.... try accessories that have some flare.Orange, Brown and Black are always fav colors. Try belts scarves and pins, earrings, braclets all carry themes this year. Try a Tweed jacket with russet toneds to pull of a pair of jeans with dark brown boots with a 3 inch heal ( way sexy) or a riding boot look a like, not only will it save on your pocketbook ( more$ for Christmas Shopping) but you will be able to wear them longer in the season from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve.
HOLIDAY TEAS ARE GREAT!!!
What is proper attire attending high tea? High teas are wonderful experiences men and women alike enjoy the special feeling one gets when attending. An afternoon at the Ritz you should wear a delightful dress or a smart well fitted suit with classic pumps or hem matching slender healed boots. Stay from overtly bright colors for High teas are reminiscent of the Victorian era and the colors were pastel but muted. Fall teas are great fun because the country tweed look is wonderful and Herringbone as well. BUT CHRISTMAS TEAS ARE THE BEST.
Alwasy bring your hostess a gift and remember its bling time. Bring out the silver platters and yoru dishes and well EVERYTHING it is so much fun to dres up MEN wear yoru best suit for Christmas Tea its so wonderful to ahve this time of year look your best standing near the fire and smeeling the roses an pine..AHHHHHHH the Holiday God Bless this time. twin sets are good for small parties but always wear pearls because they look classy at all time! If you are blessed enough to be asked to Buckingham Palace for Tea .. Wear a hat it is lovely and expected. Men wear a casual sport jacket and shined shoes NOT shorts and a clean shirt again if you are being asked to the Palace wear a tie as well if you are asked to the Ritz. of course you can if it is in the right places And you are daring! Open toes can be worn : In the evening you may even wear a strap shoe but sandals are for the beach in winter. You know those get a way spots. Or possibly when you get a pedicure. Mules and clogs are worn all year round but during the fall and winter months they tend to get heavier. Woven shoes have that open air look with a bit of coverage. Great for casual and dress wear...looking smart and elegant too. Ankle straps are gorgeous on long legs and are fine for dressy affairs. Thong shoes should not be worn in my opinion after fall it looks so summery. Slides are good for evening as well but to have them in the office is a NO NO.. Closed toed shoes are office wear especially if they have thicker heal matching color of the hem of your garment but NOT a chunky heal it makes ones foot looks to heavy and the looks draws your eye to the ground. Wedges have made a huge comeback but they are different and daring for fall but do wear them with jeans on a cool day or shopping YOU will look fantastic .. Remember to choose shoes you don't have to break in they really don't fit you get a pair of shoes that FIT and feel good then you will too. Here ladies is a tidbit about those pointed toe shoes. Stuff a bit of paper in the tip it will prevent your foot from slipping and getting cramped and will keep the shape of the shoe. here is a great link for fashion shoes!

Dear Steve: NO! Seersucker is not the fabric of outerwear you want to invest in!! I am seeing it in the stores a lot but this is trendy and will not continue. On a man it looks great if your in the southern part of the United States and well groomed with a good tan. I would not invest in Seersucker, but a piece or two is fun to accessorize with. I always saw it used mostly for children so (that's my opinion). Is it acceptable on adults yes but think about this one-first OK?

If you wore a black suit, switch to navy, or vice versa. But, you can wear the same one, just make sure that you change it up enough, so you do have a different look. For exmaple: If you wore pants change
to a skirt. Put a scarf around your neck if you wore a necklace, and if you choose a shell, then go with
a button down cotton or silk blouse. It's amazing what a little change can do to make your suit look so much different. I hope that this helps.
