The conduct or procedure required by good breeding or prescribed by authority to be observed in social or official life..

NEW REVLON WOMAN OVER 40!
BY Theresa Forkins-Phillips
After you turn forty some things require attention.!! Like our looks....that can alter our personality!
So for me to look as young as I feel in need lot of help!
I found when I reached forty I still felt like I was in my 30s but as I look in the mirror I realize I need help so here it is ....
A total facial makeover and the products well…
THANK GOD FOR PRODUCTS!!
I also realized that the older I get the more product I seem to acquire.
I recently was speaking at a church out of state mind you ....I only need two changes of clothing but my makeup bag was very large !!
I needed toothpaste and brush of course the one that will whiten my teeth.
The firming cream the moisturizer and the cleansing creams o yes of course the fake tan in a can..
WHY DID I NOT DO THIS A YOUNG GIRL?
I am wearing more to cover up the tan lines J ( wrinkles)
And I need the hairdresser more often ..and of course I need that eye enhancer ..and the mascara wow It is a challenge growing older
But here are the results of my trying to turn back the clock.. Tick, tick ,tick
Mary Kay facial system works best for me....
But I became REVLON GIRL or WOMAN!!!
The Frming Cream is the best I have used and I have a shelf rull of many half empty jars!!
Then I use the Revlon age defying makeup foundation makeup .
I use a powder blush to set it then I top top it off with waterproof eye liner and mascara.
For my lips used the makeup again and used al lip pencil and lipstick and their you have it !!!
Thank GOD for Cosmetics!!
AND THANK GOD FOR REVLON!!BEING ILL
...Manners please!
when a person becomes ill with viruses or flu or colds. their is proper protocol about the matter....
One must remember NOT to infect anyone else .If your children are sick please keep them at home. They belong there under your care and this will help prevent epidemics in school.
Send your children with sanitation wipes or gels during the flu season and most of all during season change that seems to be the time when most bugs come out strong.
Change sheets on beds often and wipe down mattresses wash door nob's and faucets and the door facings of all doors in your house this is important to maintain good health and also this will prevent a lot of sickness in the house.
I always iron pillow cases ..Why ? Because most people wash in cold water.. the hot iron will help kill bacteria in the case where human moisture can collect, don't be afraid to spray pillows
NOTE:
All this is good ,cleaning before you have house guest and after you have them.
It goes along with the Golden Rule ..Clean your home and perhaps when you are at someone else's they will do the same!
Stay home when sick keep germs to a minimum and drink plenty of water
most of all be well ...and Save anothes life do not shop Ill.
Restaurant manners a must do for all people
Recently I was dining with friends at a very nice restaurant and I noticed a family with children having dinner as well.
Children are a gift from God BUT these kids were defiantly our of order ..The were throwing food on the floor spitting at their parents causing a embarrassment and a mess for all around! What was worse is this the parents were doing nothing about it!
I realize the total fear of a reprimand in public simply because someone will call the DCFS on them... But here is a way to tend to the situation
Take your child outside and PUNISH THEM By either talking to them or by actually letting them know this is an un well mannered behavior.
I would not suggest you take a belt to them or strike them... perhaps removing a favorite TV program will do..or a Video game etc...
But do something it!!
Don't let the Public take control of your home YOU do it .. Your children will respect you for it in the long run.
An important note here ...perhaps the children are to young to enjoy a finely set table and would prefer MC Donald's after all.. The lovely setting may just well be pleased by the parents alone and enjoying each other with out the little ones.
MARCH MIND YOUR MANNERS IT IS A GOOD THING!
How do you know if you have bad manners?
If you offend people you have bad manners .
How do you know if you have offended a person?
Because they do not respect you nor do they talk to you.
How can you bridge the gap?
Apologize and win them back
Grace is a wonderful word and Forgiveness is a good quality
Try it!
WE HAVE LOST THE ART OF BEING GRACEFUL
Feburary 2007 Cheapness in Behavior and Impressions.
Their is one thing that upsets the men and women who have manners is that someone who pretends to have them. It does not take money to have manners and self respect it takes responsibility and respect.
The true meaning of being cheap is this..When one put no value on another. A person who hold no respect for authority and shows no curtesy for people in Authority. A very true statement remains "That which is good remains." As in the Bible it says Loves Covers a multitude of sin so should we as human beings take care to care for people around us because we "DO CARE" ..but to pretend to "care" is often the case ..Trust me.. if its fake we all know it I should like to suggest to learn to say ma'am and sir ..and learn to approach other with respect .. if you cannot do this then i would advise concealing for bad manners will never get anyone anywhere. Girls are being made to look cheap with clothing and make up. In all retrospect it makes us a Nation look Cheap when our kids wear holes in their pants too short of dresses and undergarments as outer were costumes belong on the stage not in the schools or in the churches.
Table settings : Table talk wow it gets good! Table Dressing: The Center Piece of a table dressing in amazingly in the center of the table settings. Place settings are equally placed apart. All table utensils are balanced. This is one rule that cannot be changed. If you are having a formal dinner use a piece of felt under the Damask table cloth it makes for smoother table. If a crease is in the table cloth make sure it is directly in center of table in a perfect line. Napkins should be neatly pressed and placed near the plate in lovely fashion. try a ribbon as a napkin ring. Place it directly uptop the plate, but not if it is patterned then place it under the fork settings or beside them.
Place settings: The distance between seating should never be such as no elbow room. Plate with a pattern or initials are placed right side up. They are first around the table at equal distances..use a string to measure distance if you like. On left of each plate handle toward the edge of the table and prongs up 1 the salad fork 2 the meat fork, 3, then the fish fork the salad fork being the nearest to the plate.
On the right. The nearest to the plate the meat knife, 2 the fish knife 3, the soup spoon and the oyster fork all toward the plate. Not more than three knives or three forks belong on the set table.
Putting on the glasses: water glass is directly above the knives at the right of the plate. Next is the champagne glass in front between these two either a claret glass or a tall stemmed glass fro whit wine. Either in front of to the side of this (right) is the sherry glass. at dinner three glasses and a goblet are all that is needed at the table. I know we don't usually see this in our homes but elegance is making a comeback and I love it. it is good to make a table beautiful it makes dining an art and full of mystery Have fun and play with color and styles. formal is good but formal with color is interesting so glam it up for company but remember the formality when the in-laws come for dinner :) happy eating
.

Its fully holiday time with Christmas all through the new year and what shall we do about it? Here are a few helpful hints Pick up several guest gifts at a local gift store that are already wrapped so you will have one handy ....Just in case.. Men can handle manicure kits. Women love note books and card holders ..Candles and anything personal and loving. Kids love candy so get some boxes of candy even for us OLDER kids :)Don't FORGET CANDY CANES Remember its a season about Love and sometime patience gets worn out ..TRY to remember it will pass and those you are with are under stress as well. COMMUNICATION DO'S AND DONT'S:
Their is nothing worse than rude people. And one of the rudest things their is, is when a person says they will be in contact with you then blow you off..Say what you mean and mean what you say..Or you could be called a liar . Reputations are made and broken in a flash of a word SO.
DO NOT TELL SOMEONE YOU WILL CONTACT THEM AND NOT DO IT ..IF YOU MISS THEN CALL THEM AND ASK FORGIVNESS IT WILL BRIDGE THE GAP.
ok now practice in the mirror .."im sorry" ..say it again try real hard ..OK "I AM SORRY "
See you did it ..GOOD JOB!
November Thanksgiving Etiquette.
Etiquette is a must during the holidays with all the hustle and bustle we seem to forget our manners. Manner is as manners does so I say! Clean shoes hair teeth and clothes pressed is a good start.
Sloppy dressing makes sloppy everything else. Espically if your invited to someones home. During the Thanksgiving season it is wise to remember to not be late for dinner arrive early enough to be a help, BUT not to early that you catch your hostess and host in the shower. Remember table manners. Please pass or can you PLEASE pass the ?? I t is so important to appreciate the day and be with friends but try during the holiday season to advert from profane language as well. Not everyone uses it and be mindful in someone's home. As my Auntie Bess would say "Mind YOUR Tongue" language is and should be an art form and everyone can make or break a moment with a word.. Suggestion.. If something angers you count to 10, and smile till you feel like smiling It may be the last time someone at the table may ever see you do not forget that. Make Thanksgiving memorable be Thankful.
October men dressing and social tips
Men beware im watching you.. This section is brought to you by Theresa Forkins-Phillips
a tidy man is a man worth being around!
When a gentleman goes out for the evening he needs to consider where the night may lead him. Think ahead Gents its important Unless you know for sure you are watching spots at a chaps house mind how you dress. A gentleman is wise to stick with classic style .. Polo shirts and classic oxford button downs are the assets to have IRONED neatly. jeans and simple slack with a BLAZER that fits well is a must. Sock match the trouser of show NEVER wear white socks unites it is a health problem or sport gym shoe. Socks should be avoided when wearing shorts and always have shorts trouser and jeans YES JEANS neatly pressed. My opinion is this if you won't dress properly stay home
Another note to all readers. Just because the store you shopped in did not have tidy neatly pressed garments does NOT MEAN YOU SHOULD BE A MESS TOO!! IRON THEM AT HOME!
My father alwasy said if a man has clean teeth shoes and crisp collar ans cuffs the rest may go un noticed
hmmmm I still notice! So do others!

When you're more professional than the BOSS what is next?
When you enter a business person office and you see them at a "ease" state would you feel you are in the right place? If you were summoned to that office how would it make you feel if you walked into such office and see your boss just sitting back in chair smoking cigar? I call it rude business to look and act casual if you have an appointment with someone. Casual is for home and relaxation. you cannot take home to the office. I always feel if your not acting professional on the job you wont be! If you present yourself in a professional way in dress and speech you will be successful Sloppy does NOT cut it today it may seem so in the films but in the "real world" it is NOT cool to dress down or be unkept! I find it bad manners to call your boss by the first name unless directed to and if you are introducing your boss always refer to such boss by the title they hold let them make the change NOT you. It is good manners to be professional even if the boss is your friend the office needs respect at all times. Professionalism seemed to be going "out" but it has come back with a vengeance and just do it! Say no to slop and get your grove back! It may seem im harping on this topic well....I am because I can and because people just do not get it!
About addressing those in authority. July 2006 Whenever you are introduced to someone always remember to extend the right hand of fellowship. Address them as maam or sir or by their appropriate title if someone is bearing as title always use their HIGHEST RANKING TITLE never address them by the first name unless you have been invited to do so. Men a slight bend of the head and ladies a slight tilt of the head is quite appropriate. Look them in the eye when making contact. Good manners will help everyone to succeed.
May2006 Proper thank you's.. It is quite important to remember communication is essential for everyone. Building relationships can be costly if we dont make proper responses. When someone has done a service for you or to you ,a simple thank you note is a very inexpensive way to keep communication open. People love to hear a thank you. Offences are hard to win over. Keep your mind on pleasing others and you will not fail.Try to remember Trust is earned not automatic.

ABOUT BEING LATE!
Well.... it is rather rude to be late... timing is everything and being on time is essential for professionals.
Don't be to early either catching your host off guard.
When interviewing be 5 minutes early NO MORE.
If you have a meeting set up for a special time YOU be on time. start the meeting even if the majority of your people are there or not ... you set a sandard , those who are late will learn better manners . IF you wait for them they will always be in conrol... remember YOU are the boss.
If you buy expensive designer jeans PLEASE don't wear them to "the ball"
Jeans are perfect for "casual time" , not professional or most social events.
Protocol Tip for MEN & WOMEN when carrying briefcases, purses or small packages, use your left hand and arm to do so, leaving your right hand free to greet people.
When going on an interview : Remember.... ASK to be seated Never seat yourself before being asked .
IF you are the interviewer Remember ... To seat your interviewer they are your guest.
NEWS!
When you being interviewed a letter of introduction is a good thing to have , from a boss or a professional person in your field is quite acceptable. It is proficiant and it is most likely you will get the job!!
Invites and anouncements should alwaysbe mailed at least 4 to 6 weeks in advance.
WEARING DAY AND EVENING CLOTHES
IT is not proper attire to mix day and evening clothes together.
Suitability is necessary here, DAY is for DAY, EVENING is for EVENING.
The Art of: Being Great House Guest! March 2006
4 things should be considered what to wear what luggage to bring, a selection of trifling gifts, (Perhaps surrounded by the theme of which you may be a house guest) and 4 your mindset. What kind of house guest should you be? Thinking about these things will keep you prepared for unexpected moments which often do arise.. Gifts are so special.. They need not to be expensive.. For the ladies a simple handkerchief with a special monogram is quite appropriate and men the same.. Small fragrances of a LITE nature as wonderful for the ladies as well. Men may enjoy a vintage bottle of something special, and for the non drinker perhaps special coffees. Why bring a gift .. Because it is social gracethat matters and Being a gracious guest is as important as being a gracious host. I have been a house guest on several occasions and when I leave the bedroom I have a pre written thank you notes already. I do them at home before I leave and when I go .. My hostess or Host is quite often surprised to see the note left behind. This will also take place of a later thank you in case you lead a busy life, and, don't want to forget to thank those who took care of you.
AFTERNOON TEA...... A LOVELY WAY TO ENJOY FRIENDSHIP
Try a party in the Garden or Afternoon Teas
Tea can be iced and has plenty of mint and usually lemon, pineapple and
other cold fruit juices around.
Chocolate poured with whipped cream is an added treat!
Food consists of nothing but breads and cakes. These can be of whatever variety, and as many, or few as one may choose. Usually they are thin sandwhiches cut either in diamond or heart shape.
Tea can also be HOT with sugar cubes, cream, honey and lots of flavors.
An exciting way to get people involved with TEA is to ask them to bring their favorite tea cup.
Believe it or not... Men do enjoy the afternoon tea their charm and wit get to be used when the world is so stuffy and busy..just keep a mug on hand for them
and coffee!
Teas are GREAT! They bring up old traditions and make a person feel like they are in another world.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth actually allows the public to attend afternoon tea .
This Year on her 80th Birthday a gift of Spode china was given to her by her Cabinet it was a delight to Her Majesty.21 April 2006 marked her 80th birthday! Tea service pic is her gift.
EVENING NIGHT OUT
It is always good practice to review your attire the day before you go out for a casual or a formal evening.
check hems and creases.
accesories with proper color :example shoes handbag should match .
a good rule try matching your shoes with your hemline it make a fine full length look. Ladies wait for the gentleman to open the door for you he really wants to do so. Stand quietly near the door and THANK him when he does it men like to be thanked.
Evening nail polish can be red but for day it is usually a NO NO.
If you are at a formal dinner it should never be red unless the dress is red.
